I Need Help With Choosing a Budget Gaming Laptop

My budget is about $1000 - $1200, and I have no experience in buying gaming laptops or any laptops at all since my history of using laptops have been mostly hand-me-downs (MacBooks which are trash, and HP work laptops) from other people.

Now I have finally saved up enough to buy something entry-level, but need help with recommendations.

I looked at the Acer Predator Helios 300 and MSI GS65 Stealth THIN - 051 since they were around my budget, but I believe that asking others for help before choosing is always a better thing to do.

Any suggestions, comments, advice, or recommendations would be much appreciated.

I don’t know a thing about PC components or terms like “GPU” so please go easy on me, thanks!

Edit: In case anyone is wondering, games that I would like to run on the laptop include games like Doom Eternal, The Witcher 3, Division 2, Apex Legends, Elder Scrolls Online. Hopefully this will help you guys. Again, thanks a lot!

My favorite place to pick out gaming laptops is www.xoticpc.com I have not actually ordered anything from them, but I love how they organize the systems. Much better to find things there than on Amazon or Newegg and such. Anything in your price range there will be about equal, the differences would be in disk size, screen size and display type. You may find a system with a bit slower CPU and smaller drive but faster video card for gaming.

If the laptop will be used often for gaming without a monitor, and you are not worried about bulk, go for a 17" screen system like https://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np6876-clevo-nh70rcq.html In fact for the specs, and the 500gb SSD, that is what I would pick for the price.

This has a smaller screen but has higher refresh rate so games will feel smoother https://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np6856-s-clevo-nh58rcq.html

This is a bit out of your budget but is good, good screen and specs https://www.xoticpc.com/aorus-7-na-7us1021sh.html

Thanks for your comment.

Not being able to play BF5 or PUBG is not really a problem for me, but if it can’t handle those games, I wonder how it may be able to handle other modern games...
