Sorry, I don't know how to "describe a thread". I am partially deaf in my right ear. They used to make headphones with left/right balance adjustments and it worked out great. I can't find them anymore. I would like HIGH QUALITY sounding headphones, not just some cheapo kind. Money is (almost) no object. I don't care if they are ear buds or regular headphones. I am more used to regular headphones, though. Thank you, anyone that can help me. I listen to a lot of "progressive rock" and "progressive, non-boring, fusion jazz" with very clear recordings and really appreciate quality sound, NOT just booming bass for rap crap. Rap is NOT music. Sorry, rappers.

a few companies still make such products such as http://en-us.sennheiser.com/tv-headphones-stereo-hd-65-tv however they are not very common at all.

perhaps the easiest to use both with pc and portables is the fiio e17 which is a dac/headphone amp and has L/R (+/-10db) balance adjustment built in. you could then take your pick of quite a few decent headphones.

otherwise, you might want to use a preamp or mixer with balance adjust (pan pot) + amplifier, amp with separate l/r knobs (rare) or balance adjustment (expensive), windows volume balancer (only on windows pc not portables)

there are also products like http://www.adcohearing.com/product3303.html however they likely will only work with lower power headphones (ones which do not require an amplifier). for serious hifi audio its not really an option.
