I purchased a HDMI,wire I connected to the tv,I don't know where to connect the other end of the HDMI

If the dvd player doesnt have HDMI, you'l have to buy an HDMI - RCA adapter if it's got RCA

That adapter has to be an active converter. A passive cable won't work.
Maybe you can put that money towards a player with HDMI.
