I had the same problem on an ASUS notebook. Hold down the fn key and press the inser/num lk key.
It worked for me.

You press the Fn key and it has a light. When u press the Fn key keep holding it then you press the "Esc" key. On some versions of keyboards is says in little print FnLk, I hope this helped you, it should reverse it.
