I took over 200 photos with the iPhone 16 Pro Max vs Galaxy S24 Ultra — here's the winner

Typical Apple shill article.

The photos are preference. One isn't in any category inherently better (exceptions).

TG genuinely has the crappiest articles which is probably why the sister site TH has infinitely more engagement and less biased "articles".

Totally agreed these apple sheep are irritating, Samsung killed it especially the dynamic category everything is well lit the foreground is exposed nicely but he goes for apple, just because the background windows is well expored, which one is more important subject of the picture or the way background is??? Bull crap. S24U took it for me by miles and i wasn't watching this alone we both agreed and hid the names of the devices.

This article is clearly biased and came down to the "critique's" personal, subjective judgement. Maybe color should be out of the equation when critiquing photos as this will always come down to personal preference. Dynamic range, detail quantity should weigh the critique's objective judgement rather than color and artificial sharpness.

I liked the 1st photo of the chairs from the iPhone over Samsungs oversharping. However, the 2nd photo in the bar clearly goes to Samsung. The iPhone has grossly underexposed the subject while Samsung nailed it. The eye is drawn right to the beer levers and what they say, which is what makes a good photo. I stopped there since I question your ability to understand photography.

What a rubbish article that the writer can blatantly lie in face of facts.
1. Most (if not all) of the photos that the writer complain about over saturation, I see, checked and measured that the S24 Ultra images are in fact less saturated than the iPhone images.
2. When S24U over sharpens is bad. When the oversharpens, it gives better details. With this sort of logic... wait what logic?

Conclusion: this place is one of those sites bonded by Apple to give good comments else they don't get to review anymore Apple products. Else, they got a kid who doesn't know "technical terms" to write a "technical" article.

While this is a good article it feels like it is not getting the full picture. I would prefer to see an article having full coverage of the devices cameras including 8K and 4K video performance in depth. That means checking image stabilisation in day and night mode. Checking focus while tracking fast objects such as drones. Testing ultra slow motion recording while capturing events such as water movement. Finally for pictures have you used the maximum available resolution?

The assessment of over saturation in bright sunlight is completely off base! it is the exposure, white balance inconstancy! While the Samsung appears in the other photos appears to be slightly under expose in the photo in bright sunlight picture with Adirondack chairs it is heavily over exposed or the white balance is not set properly for daylight

Since they are writing Algorithm to adjust setting it is judgmentally set by the creator of the calculation to their perspective in appearance under certain conditions and not the performance of the camera. Since these values in digital photography are selected by the photographer in the camera assigned by degrees of kelvin temperature and the placement of light on the sensor, it is always the artistic perspective of the Photographer to present the best possible image as they see it!

In computational photography, it is the interpretation by the writer of the code for a given condition which does not artistically recognize the nuances of light, intensity color difference impacted by angle, direction and source of light either incidental reflectional, etal. Since photography is an art and computation in cell phones is based on averages, you will never see through the eye of the shooter.

Beauty is held in the eye of the beholder, and in my photographic journey I have found, what people define and like are as varied as the stars in the heavens. Do not rely on a review, select the one that appeals to your sense of beauty.

You can see in the Apple selfie that it made you look as good as possible all your flaws the s24 one look more real showed every imperfection on your face and you can zoom in more on it so I guess for women they would like something that makes them look better but it's not really them but that's 24 Ultra which I have in my hand every picture looks true to life damn near I know there's a i in it but I don't have to complain especially not a 200 megapixel

Dear author, you must have been looking at different pictures than the ones you shared in this article .... Looking at them with my GF who is very much an iPhone user (won't even consider anything else) preferred more of the S24U images. I don't think any other comparison I've watched/read from any reviewer has every single category won by the iPhone. Definitely seems biased. To be fair I prefer some of the iPhone images, too, but it's not a 100% sweep, especially with the sample images in this article.

As always apple over saturates and over contrasts, while Samsung over processes everything. On my S23 ultra you can take a picture of something like the flower in the article and the picture will look perfect for about 2 seconds. Then the over processing software ruins the picture and there is no way to turn the crap off or revert the picture. I've actually made screen recordings of it doing it and raised hell with Samsung for hours over it. Their software is junk. My wife and daughter have the ProMax, it ruins pictures too, just in different ways. I was trying to take a picture of an old photograph. My S23 Ultra absolutely would not do it without ruining it. My wife's ProMax nailed it perfectly the first time. Another time my daughter was repeatedly trying to take a picture of something and it just wouldn't come out right. My phone nailed it on the first shot. They are both great and horrible just in different circumstances.

The 200mp is crazy. You can see every vein in someone's eyes in a picture taken from 10 feet away.

Iphone algorithms are designed to make pictures look good to the average idiot on Instagram. They are always extra warm, extra saturated, and extra contrasted. Samsung has a tendency to look more realistic at the cost of not looking so good on Instagram.

This is crap because I actually own both of these phones and the SAMSUNG 24 puts the iPhone 15 and 16 to complete shame with the camera. iPhone 15 and above you have to do wayyy too much adjusting to get a decent picture and the SAMSUNG you just open the camera and it delivers. Truthfully Samsung 24 does outperform the iPhone this time around. I use it way more than my iPhone these days.

Some of these pictures are very subjective (ie do you want more natural look or the pop of colour) but there are some where Samsung clearly had a better shot yet the verdict was iPhone.
- The glass of beer - you can see the detail in the bubbles in the samsung but in the phone they are blurry.
- The beer taps - verdict given to iPhone because the samsung outside area loses details? Surely the picture is about capturing the beer taps and you can hardly read them on the iPhone one yet very clear on the samsung.

I'm an iPhone user of 10+ years but if I want a pic of us or scenery in low light or at night time i don't even bother getting my iPhone out. I get my friend to take the pic on their samsung.
