I updated the touchpad in my HP laptop but still it doesnt work

I have an HP pavilion notebook, and it has been sometime my touchpad hasn't been working. I updated the ' Synaptics PS/2 port touchpad ' .It has installed successfully and the system restarted, but still my touch pad doesn't work.. What should I do?

Make sure it is enabled in your BIOS. Also, some systems will automatically disable the touchpad if a mouse is connected to the system.
