I don't have the pc manual anymore, and I've read that for windows 8 reset you might need a product key. Where can I find that before I reset my laptop? Thanks

There is a utility floating around that will get your license#.

But you really want to get to the manual, any vendor with a name you recognize has the manual online. Every laptop restore procedure is different. Loading a blank OS is often not enough, laptops come with their own specific drivers, made available by the vendor. Some use a restore partition, others don't, some use a hibernate partition, others don't.
