I was asking whether I should get a gaming laptop or an Xbox one console?

Solution
Depends on your budget...

You will get 720p upscalled medium gfx at 60q fps on an Xbox one at around $400-$500 or the same in euros or pounds.

To achieve the same on a laptop you need to spend around double what the console costs you.

PC gaming is not a cheap endeavor for those seeking good visuals. Expect to pay 1200 and more for "goodish" laptop gfx. 1600 of any of those 3 currencies to enter the arena of "high" gfx at 1080p and consistent 60 fps.

What would perform better? The xbox one presents a higher value to gaming laptops. Keep in mind that gaming laptops are priced very high for what you get. A closed non-up-gradable system. Between the two I would choose the xbox but you may want to consider a gaming pc for around the same price :D.

No...I would not wish a "gaming" Pc for 500 dollars inc. monitor, peripherals and OS on my worst enemy...

Minesweeper Deluxe anyone?

Most households have a TV and that price includes these peripherals...

I am UK based and post very regularly to great effect on this predominantly US website...having added the comment that the price is the same for all 3 currencies, your argument is not only petty it is also completely invalid.

So why don't you pipe down and instead present a viable 500 dollar option to rival an Xbox, or just concede that you spoke out of line?

Out of line? I gave an opinion and you just try to mock. You trying to mock me or my opinions does not add to the solution and I am not going to create a problem because some idiot wants to mock people instead of helping the guy who needs help.

I am not mocking it, I am discounting it on the basis that it is false advice which in actual fact does more to confuse the OP than help.

He has not named a budget nor been too specific about needs. On the basic question of which will give a better visual performance out of an xbox or a laptop, I gave a clear and precise answer.

To say you can build a gaming pc on xbox budget which requires every single component (we assume) from hardware to peripherals and a screen...is not only uninformed, it is damaging to the effort of helping the OP understand the original question.

So please stop taking it personally and allow people to give informed advice on a topic without throwing a massive tantrum.

Assuming people have a TV is as bad as assuming they do not have peripherals or a screen. I said Xbox is a better value, I said I would choose an xbox out of the two because it presents a better value. You mock my opinion that he may want to consider a PC giving no reason. And it is most certainly possible to build a decent PC for $500.

Please, bestow your knowledge on us all by presenting a $500 gaming PC, including a monitor, keyboard, mouse and all required hardware and software to build and operate it.

I am HIGHLY intrigued to see what you can teach us.

And once again you resort to mockery "Minesweeper Deluxe anyone?" "I am HIGHLY intrigued to see what you can teach us." Implying I have a nothing to teach. Stop trying to act superior.

I am not acting superior in my knowledge of PC's and gaming hardware, I am actually convinced that it is !

This is the key difference, where you are trying to constantly circle back to my discounting your false statement, I am offering insight into why it is false. Also I have already answered the OP's original question and expanded on it.

If we assume the OP lives in a house/flat with no electronic entertainment hardware and start from there:

Xbox - Depending on region, we will assume US - Console with peripherals and 1 game max. $399 - LED TV Between $100-400 depending on size etc. We can safely assume if he does not live somewhere that has a TV already, he is not going to suddenly buy a 50 inch screen, is he? Even if he did those go for $400, you don't need a $1000 Samsung for this.

Laptop capable of the same GFX settings in current AAA games, running at 720p and 60 FPS - I will argue is not available under $900 - prove me wrong

Gaming PC capable of reproducing the same settings, including all required peripherals and hardware - Again, not available at $400. Potentially doable at $800, however you claimed $500...

Now, depending on region, all of these EXCEPT the console will be even more expensive...in some cases FAR more. So your argument becomes even less plausable.

And you have STILL not shown us the pc setup you had in mind to back up what you said. You are busy whining about me, rather than making a facts based suggestion.

Please show us something to back yourself up or please let it go.

Aside from the fact this won't match the Xbox One...say it did for a moment...add a monitor, an OS, a keyboard, a mouse and in the call for fairness an AAA game, like the Xbox includes in the box if you buy a bundle.

Otherwise we are talking $300 for a bare console.

To save you time...you can't. You know that too, as I actually think you are probably not stupid, actually quite intelligent. You are merely emotional and stubborn and want to defend that you did not make a mistake earlier. Why did we have to argue like this to let you find out you were wrong?
