i3 or second generation i3 better? wht is the difference?

Second Gen will usually be better, because they made it bigger, faster, stronger then the first gen i3, here is a CPU Hierarchy Chart to show you that the second gen i3 can keep up or out perform some of the newer AMD quad cores!

At the same clock speed the 2nd Gen i3 is on average faster by 10%.

If you are using the integrated graphics you will see a massive difference too.

The new Sandy Bridge architecture is a lot more efficient than previous models and it's 32nm. But if you're planning to buy a rig with the 2nd gen i3, I would wait for the up coming Ivy Bridge platform.
