If an AV reciever/amplifier has hdmi inputs can it utilize 5.1 linear PCM?

I would like to set up surround sound with my Nintendo Switch, unfortunately it does not send encoded audio only unencoded 5.1 channel Linear PCM, and I’ve searched forever and nothing seems to say if it supports it or not. Also I’ve read many conflicting reports about so I thought I’d just ask for help my self

It should, as long as receiver has proper codec to do so, sometimes called DIRECT or Multi Channel PCM. Download the manuals and look it up yourself, and your best friend GOOGLE make model pcm.

Google has been no help to me so far it just shows a bunch of other junk I don’t need when I search anything PCM related
