If I play solely fallout 4, should I get a massive 55 inch led or plasma TV, or a smaller monitor with a 144 mhz display?

It depends how you play. If you're a couch gamer who likes a controller, the larger TV will allow you to do that more easily. If you like mouse and keyboard and sitting close to a screen, then the higher pixel density and smoother refresh rate will be beneficial .
