If you install an antivirus on one HDD/SSD, does it protect other HDDs/SSDs too?

I know that you can scan all drives with an antivirus but what about real time protection? If I install, say, Avast antivirus and Malwarebytes on my SSD will it also protect my HDD and any other drives I decide to add? I'm guessing yes but I just want to be sure!

Yes, any anti-virus/ anti-malware with active protection will secure all attached drives from malicious executables.
