If you are looking at gaming with any reasonably new games then dont expect to get anywhere near good FPS,or even be able to play games at all, like skyrim or crysis, or even less demanding games like BF3. Macbooks are very good for productivity and video/ image editing, but are very bad for gaming. A slim gaming laptop like the MSI GS60 will be both good for gaming and for college:

Macbookss are terrible, I own the MacBook Pro 2012 and Air, and I can't even render a video in premiere that's over 10 minutes long, and constant freezing while multitasking, no dedicated graphics just integrated HD 4000.. Go with any laptop but Apple.

Than the one I posted lasted. This should achieve 40-50 FPS at least at 1080p in most games at high- very high detail levels.
