Solved! iMac Big Sur Free Avast - how to uninstall?

I'm so livid with this software. I can't get an answer out of avast. Their sw is driving me nuts. How do I uninstall the free sw?
I worked in IT but this is really looney. Between the notifications and filetypes not being accepted in 64-bit mode, avast needs to go away.
Would like a recommendation for a Mac safe antivirus/malware. Nothing that will hose our systems like Norton, etc. Thanks.

You should also clean up the junk leftover by deleting:

~/Library/ApplicationSupport/AvastHUB
~/Library/Caches/com.avast.AAFM
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.avast.home.userpront.plist

As for a recommendation for anti-virus on Mac, I have used a Mac for 11 years and never once used an anti-virus nor had a virus. The built in services combined with common sense usage has always been enough for me. If you simply MUST install an antivirus for Mac, however, Malware Bytes is lightweight.
