inspiron n5040 problems

Ok. So I have an Inspiron n5040. I have had many issues leading up to this. After trying to factory restore this machine, which it did, during the system(windows) update it froze. I let it go for several hours. I finally shut it down. It blue screened every time. Nothing worked.....nothing! I'm not computer smart but tried all I could find on the problem and nothing....
I bought a new hdd (500g 5400r) to 500g 7200r) and ran a windows 7 dvd. It tells my files r missing. Then I get the "missing bootmgr ". So I tried all I could find and understand to fix it. No luck.

Can anyone help me, I don't have the money to keep putting into this. I need some real help!!!

I was wondering if you have already tried installing Windows using a different installation disc and/or on a different computer with the same disc?

If yes, you may want to check if any one or both the RAM sticks are faulty and need to be replaced. You can check this by pulling them out one at a time and then try installing Windows.
