Hi everyone,
I'm a bit noobish when it comes to hardware for computers, but what I've gathered is that my original hard drive on my Satellite crashed. I mean, it still boots and everything, but as soon as it reaches my desktop, Windows Explorer crashes. I try to restart the .exe via Task Manager, but when I attempt to start a new task, THAT crashes too. I've tried to run antivirus scans and a system restore using Safe Mode (Command Prompt), but both features have oddly disappeared/are unavailable.
Anyways, I have an old HP 'Compaq nx6325' laptop and it has a cracked screen, but everything else still works. It runs XP while the Toshiba runs Vista, though. I tried switching out the hard drives, but when I turned on the Toshiba, it gives me the logo screen, but does not go past that. I get stuck on a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left of the screen, even though when I go into the boot menu, the hard drive does appear to be installed.
(If you're wondering, I did take the HP hard drive back out and put it back into the HP laptop. It does indeed work.)
What I would like to know is what exactly I'm doing wrong. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Mark
