Intel hd 6100 v 840m

Hey everyone just considering buying a new laptop and want to play a couple of games every so often (nothing too intense )

Any thoughts on whether there's a real difference between an Intel HD 6100 iris vs a GeForce 840m in terms of gaming?

If you look down the column of GPU's listed in the link below, both the HD6100 and the 840M are both "Class 2," which means they are roughly similar in performance. However, the 840M is quite a bit higher in the rankings in that list, so it should be a little faster overall.

I would also look at the CPU for the notebook to get an idea of overall performance.

You will notice a difference in performance, but not so much that it will be worth upgrading, though of you could get your hands on a gtx 860m or 850 you should be satisfied, just mr opinion though,
