internet explorer stops working

I am having to constantly restore my HP Pavilion g4 series computer to an earlier time (after installing updates) or my internet will not connect.

Set the time in bios and in windows. If the time keeps going wrong change the button battery on the motherboard. Then download opera. I.E. is pants.

0) Windows 7 or 8 [or earlier?]
1) Internet Explorer as in the web browser or the file manager? If it is the web browser, try chrome, firefox or opera.
2) Do you get errors such as certificates are out of date? If so, you need to make sure your system time is correct with the current time.
3) Your internet will not connect (is this wired or wireless)? If it is wireless than can you try via the wire to see if the same occurs?
4) Can you do your Window Updates?

Does windows provide an error code when this issue occurs?

Thanks for replying Dan. I have windows 7 and internet explorer as the web browser. I have changed the system so that I will install the updates. Hopefully that will make a difference. I will look into those other browsers, I keep getting shut down or in the dormant stage for what seems to be forever.
