Internet working fine through browser but not working on other programs

I installed some software recently which my friend recommended me to download and use this program to use since he had used it himself and worked with no issues. However, in my case, all it did was infect my computer with a bunch of trojans, malware, etc the list goes on. Now however, whenever I try and launch Steam, discord, skype, any application, it says it isn't connected to the internet and in some cases won't even launch. I've scanned multiple times using malwarebytes, my own anti-virus, and other trusted programs, yet after I restart my PC it still doesn't work. I am completely unsure of what I can do now and I'm contemplating putting a fresh install of windows on my PC to try and solve my problems.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I'm past the point of caring, I just want help to fix this problem since the whole reason I want to use my computer (gaming) is out of the window, and since I just got my new CPU today I can't even use it because of one program. Thank you in advance for any help.
