iPad. Forgotten password

My iPad asks for Apple ID and password because the owner (me) has used 'Find my Phone' to link to their Apple ID'
Enter Apple ID and password used to set up iCloud'
I don't recall ANY of these actions nor the password!!
Must I buy a new iPad cos I can't get into this one?!!

We can't assist with password issues here but it has to be worth a trip to the nearest Apple Store to see if they can clarify matters.
