pulling the headphone jack from smartphones is the stupid idea equivalent of removing speakers and audio outputs from televisions. while true that its possible to market without said features its highly inconvenient and completely alienates whole market sectors. in fact, the headphone jack on apple products is one of the selling points (good amplification) so killing it would be like kicking themselves in the rear. i'm not sure if even apple fans would forgive them.
