Is it worth getting a base model MacBook Air 13 (Early 2015)?

I really like them but the base model is as far as my budget gets.
The one I'm talking about has a 1400x800 resolution with i5, 8gb ram & 128gb ssd.
I'm a software developer and I'll casually need to run Visual Studio in a virtual machine.

Will it serve my needs properly and work fast? Thanks in advance, to whoever answers, much appriciated!

It can but I wouldn't recommend it. If you are using microsoft products always buy a windows laptop.
