No. Apple is overpriced trash for the most part. Their macs are no exception. What's your budget? What do you want to do with the computer? You can get way better for the money.

My budget is $1000 - $1200

I will be doing programming with web server, web browsing, watching movies, and gaming on weekends only.

Except for gaming the pro is good assuming you have software on the mac os that can program the things you have said. Otherwise a windows laptop is better.

I would say the ux501 but that is out of your price range by $300. The other option is a barebone laptop like clevo. You can look at the n series laptop as they are good for this. Msi are also good for this.
