Hi all!
So I have a laptop already, which is an ASUS X102BA and its performance isnt that great, but its ultra lightness makes it seem like a good option for uni. I am going to be studying computer science and I was wondering whether this laptop would be sufficient in being able to handle stuff in that course. I have tried extremely basic programming on python and it doesnt seem that bad, fairly fast actually xD

I need to know because I have some money and I wanted to build a gaming PC, but if I absolutely NEED a faster laptop for this course I will invest my money there.

What do you guys think? :)

hello there what kind of software are you running? because if your trying to run something like cad or 3dmodeling then you probably would need a laptop with dedicated graphics that laptop is good enough for microsoft office and browsing the internet and downloading music and youtube and stuff but thats about it. so you just need to figure out if your going to be using software that needs processing power or thats graphics intensive hope this helps

Thanks heaps for your reply! For the first year I don't think I will be doing anything too graphics intensive... stuff like: mathematics (I'd be using pen and paper for that anyway), statistics, programming fundamentals, communication/networking, also some object oriented programming (unsure of how much processing power is required for that), computer organisation and database design and development. I'm unsure if there is much 3d modelling involved with it for now, I'll get back to you on that though :) thanks
