Is there a way to use an Android device as an extended display for PC?

Just as the title suggests, I'm looking for a way to use my phone as an extended display for my netbook, primarily for resource monitoring. The program I'm planning to use fits perfectly on my phone's resolution.

This idea kinda sparked after seeing some USB displays. I've seen some apps that can do this with client/server software over a wifi network, but I'd much rather do this through a direct connection via USB if possible, especially since I spend a lot of time at coffee shops. I do have a rooted HTC Evo 4G with GBEvo-Deck 1.3 and ADB set up, if that helps.

Anyone know if it's possible, or how I could go about doing this?

apparently there is an app called idisplay which does what you want.

iDisplay is one of those client/server softwares. I'm trying to do this through a direct connection. Plus it got some pretty bad reviews.

Then the answer is no because there are no Android phones with a direct video-in link to the best of my knowledge.
