Is there a way to watch live TV on a computer

Is there any way to watch live TV on a laptop? Not like HuluPLUS and the like, but to for example leave it on during the day for company for a pet while I'm at work...or if I just want to channel-browse at the end of a long work day rather than having something particular in mind? The specific channels I would be interested in, if it matters, would be things like Animal Planet, BBC America, the Weather Channel, and local/network.

I would probably get something newer than something with the "ATI" logo since AMD acquired that company back in 2006.

You can only watch stations broadcasted over the air that is not encrypted. I am pretty sure the channels you listed are encrypted. Click the following link to find free HDTV channel in your area.
