Is there any way to increase the quality for my Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma headset?

My old headset, the Razer Kraken Pro was in pretty bad shape, so I decided to get an upgrade. After playing some games and chatting with my friends on skype (I also recorded some clips), I noticed that my mic quality wasn't really that great. It really cancels out the ambient sound, so I can only hear my voice, but the mic actually sounds worse than my old headset.

I tried setting the sample rate to something higher, but the problem is that it only goes up to 48000 Hz (DVD quality), while the old ones were able to go much higher. I would also like to mention that the old headset had 3.5mm jack connectors while these new ones are USB powered.

Also (if this is somehow useful), the "Enhancements" tab on my headset (as well as my speakers) is gone all of a sudden.

I just want to know if this problem exists because they are USB powered (it's my first time with USB audio devices, and if this is the case then I won't consider buying them ever again) or if I'm just stupid and there is a fix for this issue.

I tried (with no luck):

  Reinstalling my drivers
  Updating the headset's drivers
  Changing the headset's drivers to something generic
  Messing around with the sample rates
  Trying different settings in the Razer Synapse 2.0 app (the headset depends on it apparently, but the quality only changed slightly, not really what I was looking for)
  Plugging them in different ports on the PC

Increase the quality? Sure, replace them with better headphones. Other than that they are pretty much as good as they will ever be out of the box

I'm mostly talking about the sampling rates. Have I installed the wrong drivers, is this all that USB powered headphones can do or are these headphones bad?

Sampling rates above 48K do nothing to help with headphones (though they do help reduce issues on compression, headphones themselves don't really see a benefit). If they sound like crap, it' because they are crap.
