Is this a good first laptop for a college student? All I plan on using it for is browsing, word documents, web and graphic design, as well as digital painting. This also includes softwares like Photoshop and Illustrator.

I went over to Walmart and the assistant there took a look at the specifications of the laptop I was wanting to purchase and said it was absolute garbage. Seeing as he's the specialist I agreed with him but what do you think--is it worth the purchase and does it fit my needs? If not could you possibly refer me to something better in the same price range?

It's $428.00 but I'm able to get a discount down to $370.00.

Well, the processor is a low leve processor, and there's no GPU listed in the specifications... How will you engage in effective graphic designing and photo editing without a decent graphics card?
Are you sure you can't spend a bit more?
