Is this HP laptop any good?

Hey my little brother got a new laptop for Christmas and gave me his old one. I havent used it much but doesnt seem very fast. How old are these specs and realistically what could I do on it? Any light/medium gaming? Please let me know

Anything more than light office work an webbrowsing would be too much for it. It could even struggle to play back youtube video's at higher resolutions.

If it's 64-bit Windows, adding more RAM would help as 4GB is considered to be below bare minimum these days (that's why 64-bit Windows is now commonplace).

Other than that, there's little you can do to improve it's performance, though you may want to give the HDD a defrag and get rid of any junk software that you don't need (to free up some space to give Windows more breathing space).

That Processor is pretty old and the IGPU that comes with it is not going to work for gaming, unless it's mine craft or less. Otherwise it's probably a great laptop, and if it has good-great battery life it can totally be a school or college laptop. Since gaming is kind of out of the question then I reccomend NOT upgrading ram, as it will be a waste of $10-$70 (RAM Prices are all across the board) and 4gb is fine.
