Is this laptop worth the buy?

I am a college student currently that's a computer science major. The laptop I use now starts up slow and heats up fast and sounds like a airplane taking off. So i am in the market of a new laptop. I know the cpu is a little old but I was going to eventually upgrade the HDD to SSD and install more ram after a little time of having it.

That being said, the E6420 is almost 5 years old now. I'm not sure how much you're budget is (how much is your budget?), but a newer machine will likely last longer, offer better performance, and have aftermarket parts and support for a longer period of time.

My budget is under 600 dollars preferably and a used laptop as I don't see the reasoning to buying a new one where I get just wipe the memory of a used one for a discount
