That model appears to already have a 160Gb SSD. Were you wanting to replace the current SSD or replace the 500GB HDD? The only question is whether your computer supports SATA III. If it doesn't, then you won't get the full speed from that SSD. I can't tell whether your computer uses SATA II or SATA III.

Hi ringzero,

Thanks for your response.

Yes, I want to check whether my laptop has SATA 3 support or not. Can you please let me know how can I check it?

& My laptop came with 750GB 5400RPM SATA, which is quite slow. That's why, I am getting SSD for better performance (This laptop has 2 hdd bays).

Waiting for response.

Regards

hello,

SATA 3 supports 6.0gpbs & this drive have 6gbps.

If my laptop will have Sata 2, then I cannot get anything over 250mb/s. So, this ssd will be useless for me.

Is there any software to check this thing?

Hello mudassar788

I have the HP dv7t-6bxx laptop and am currently using the Corsair Force Series GT CSSD-F120GBGT-BK 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD). It was on sale at the egg for $120 and Yes you DO have the Sata III and will be blown away at the performance of the SSD. I moved my 750GB x 5400RPM hard drive to slot two and the SSD is in slot one. Speeds are awesome! Call HP and ask them to send you the second slot cable kit or you can find it on line at *** and be very nice and you might have great luck as I did with them. Good luck and enjoy!
