Issue with KOSS surround system

I have a KOSS KS2503 surround system and an LG 32LD350 TV and I can't get the TV sounds to the system via an optical audio cable. The TV speaker is turned off (said to in the manual) and I still get no sound through my surround system. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

After you make sure that the optical input is selected on the Koss check the TV audio menu and try changing the audio type if you can. If the optical output is working you will see a red light coming out of the cable.
