For this news to have any kind of real interest, we would need actual holograms to exist...

What is currently referred to as a "hologram" these days is usually rather gimmicky and very limited in its effectiveness. Most are simple variations of the old Pepper's Ghost trick that dates back to 1969...

I have yet to see a technology capable of stopping a light ray in the middle of thin air... We still need some kind of physical medium to project the image to...

Holograms? Not really. Far from it actually.
