jklmopu keys only typing numbers

The keys: jklmopu on my Acer Aspire Timeline keyboard is typing numbers, how do I stop this

Try turning Num Lock off.

This may sound silly, but I had the same problem on a wireless keyboard: make sure that the NUMLOCK is turned off. Some keyboards use those keys as a numeric pad when NUMLOCK is turned on.
