Im about ready to ship these things, off but before i do, does anyone know how to make this damned thing work? the sound is flat as hell, my soundcard (sound blaster audigy rx) cant support it because it only has 3 slots, and its stereo mode is god awful, at this point im wondering what i can get for 120-170 dollars depending on if i take the sound card back or not. I bought this headset for true surround but there was just nothing to be found.

I had those at one point and you're right, a 7.1 sound card is needed with some tweaking to make those things sound somewhat good at all. I ended up selling mine and instead bought the Audiotechnica ATH-M50X: https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M50x-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR86

These things rock! They are super comfortable as well. So much so that I had to buy another pair for my wife so she would quit taking mine.

As far as a mic goes, go with the Zalman clip mic: https://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ/ref=sr_1_6?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1471464368&sr=1-6&keywords=clip+microphone

It is reviewed as the best bang for the buck on audiophile sites and as long as you aren't looking to record high fidelity studio sound, you cant go wrong with this choice. I use this mic on my Mumble server and often get compliments on how clear sounding my voice is.
