[citation][nom]reynod[/nom]But who wants an OS which won't let you play games on the pooter?Life isn't just about productivity ...Plus isn't linux restricted to 40 yo single guys who are bald?[/citation]

OUCH! I heard his jawbone crack before he hit the matt on that one! LOL!

My buddy and I have looked into using different OS's for our media center and network but tbh nothing has impressed us. I know linux based OS's are great productivity systems that are pretty secure but they seem a bit boring to us compared to Windows options. We game too so that pretty much kills most options besides windows.

Show me something that works with ALL windows based programs and is as secure as linux and I'll look at it...

Linux is just as susceptible to malware than any other operating system. The only reason it is rarely targeted is because who wants to write virus's for an operating system that less than 1% of the market uses? If Linux was half as popular as Windows is you could damn well bet there would be plenty of virus's written for it.

Instead of using a different operating system people should just learn to be smart when it comes to what they download.

yeah the misspelling of a popular site can bite you. I tried to navigate my browser to getright's website. This was at work btw, I forgot the second t in getright and nearly had a coronary because of the dozen or so sites that popped up. Oh and must mention my desk was closest to my 2 supervisors lol...

Those malware guys are crafty. If they redirected their efforts to producing good in this world... ah who am I kidding? They love bad and the money...

Quote :but Barracuda said "Jenni+JWoww" ranked number two on the list of most dangerous search terms in the world

Ironically Tom's Hardware users have to do a search for JWoww just to figure out what the f- that is.

Who is JWoww I have never heard of him/her/it is it an American thing?

[citation][nom]Efrayim[/nom]Porn is not one of them? lol[/citation]
hahaha you know there's a lot of filtering with statistics. you're right, porn must be the no.1 with malware rate.

[citation][nom]ozkurito[/nom]Malware only affect shitty OSs. Try Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenBSD...There are thousands...[/citation]
don't be so optimistic. the source of the problem is not always the OS. the browser and especially its plugins are prone to attacks.

Every 2h my firewall pops-up with an external attempt to connect to a windows service. That's how "modern" malware works mostly.

[citation][nom]alexapi32[/nom]"JWoww", that's the worst nickname I've ever heard. What is wrong with these people?[/citation]

Lol I take it you haven't seen an episode of this show? There is more wrong with them than their nicknames.
