keep laptop screen on when lid is closed?

Is there a way to keep the laptop screen on when lid is closed?

I have it so the closing the lid does nothing however it automatically pushes my desktop on my secondary monitor. I do NOT want that.

I don't have a solution. I have a similar problem. I can easily solve this problem by turning the laptop out of the eye sore view. Problem exists when watching a movie via HDMI to Tv. Closing the lid and "do nothing" happens is not entirely true. It turns off the MPC, and even needed a restart to reapply audio format.
