Solved! Key pad won\'t work

I am attempting to use this mini Iphone and when I mash any where on the screen nothing happens it won't let me go to anything . It appears that the screen is locked . What can I do ?

Try a hard reset, i.e. remove the battery for 30 seconds and put it back in to see if that fixes the issue.
