I can't type anything, it simply is not working. It gets to my password screen but won't let me type anything

Solution
1. Go to "Control Panel" and then click "Device Manager".
2. Double click "Keyboards" to bring down the listing of any/all keyboards below it (should there be more than one).
3. Double click on your keyboard in the list.
4. In the new window that loads, click on the "Driver" tab and then click the "Uninstall" button.
5. Click "OK" and then close all the opened windows and reboot the computer.
Try turning off the laptop, connect an external keyboard, then turn on the laptop. It should work for you. Then you will want to try the following...

Try this...

1. Uninstall the keyboard driver.
2. Reboot the computer (without reinstalling the driver).
3. When it restarts, it should reinstall the driver on its own.
