Solved! Keyboard malfunction

Hi Today my laptop keyboard doesn’t work and hence can’t pass the screen lock password stage. I restarted the laptop, didn’t work. I am not tech savvy, is there anything I can do before taking it somewhere?

If you are need to immediately get to some data you can try to plug in an external keyboard.

It won't matter. Get one with a USB connector (which is everything these days).

when you get the keyboard, see if you can go into safemode to see if the laptop keyboard works there.

Just to say many thanks, my laptop functioning as normal with the external USB keyboard. ) first thing I did was to backup my data!
