Keyboard problems - When I press # it types \ instead and I've lost my pound sign?

My keyboard seems to have changed my pound sign to hashtag and my hashtag is now back slash..... Please help!

change your keyboard settings to UK/english. Now you are on US

you can switch that by hotkey "ALT"+ "SHIFT"

I have similar problem, I type shift 3 and get #, type alt 3 and get £ - the keyboard is still showing as british.... ????

Thanks - yes mac, it's my dad's computer, I'm his PA I've done an update very recently. I'm trying to get a few options to try out next time I am there. If I delete British keyboard and re-add that might work. Or I could try defaulting all the keyboard settings. Been using mac for years... if these don't work just hope it straightens out with the next update.

Lol - he is practically blind and would not have the first clue how to do anything. He asks me to do everything so I can usually only blame myself when something goes wrong. Cheers. I’m going over there later in the week so I’ll have a fiddle.
