I've heard good things about the Lenovo ThinkPad W520 for graphics/video work, and it supposedly has an excellent screen, and is under budget... problem being the NVIDIA Quadro 1000M Graphics when it comes to the gaming you'll want to be doing.

Given that, something like the Sony Vaio S could be worth a look, in the linked review it is said to boast a "super screen for video" and I have a Vaio C, they're pretty neat little units... though the screen is only 13.3 inch, it's very portable. You do pay a little extra for the Sony name though (always :-/)

Hope that's of some help anyway...

Dear madmadmax!@)

Hi! My name is Daniel Simon.
If you want I can sell my original Sony
I`ve just bought it. That would be a bargain for you. That laptop is truly superior. Then why would I sell it? Because I want to buy a Alienware.
RRP: £1400 At amazon £1130, I would sale it for £1000.

Battery life on the Vaio C isn't stellar, but I think better than the S series judging from reviews...

It generally lasts 3 to 3.5 hours when not doing too intensive stuff around Windows (which YouTube video watching would qualify as I think - not that I've sat and watched YouTube for 3+ hours solid 😉 )

With some toning down on the power settings you can get a bit longer at the cost of display brightness of course.

Battery life? Yeah, not the longest, especially if you play, but this is no wonder, cause I have a beautiful Wuxwga display, over Full Hd, it means, I can watch blue ray movies, with the real blue ray res, however windows normally can take only Full Hd. So that extra res, 1920*1200 for the blu ray movies. But who cares. I mean, I am really satisfied with my Vaio. I play with all the newest games in the highest details with full speed, thanks to my 3.8gb ram vid memory and 6gb sd ram dual channel etc. So this is a really fancy machine, I can recommend it to everyone.
