laptop audio output to speakers horrible

normally I would have my desktop to play music through but currently it is in need of repair. So I plug in my laptop and Im pretty sure there is negative bass. This is through some $70 2.1 logitech speakers, which normally perform wonderfully for what they are. Im not a bass head but there is seriously just about zero bass . I have a fiio e06 bass booster/ amplifier, and still horrible(yet better) output. next step was to plug in my Iphone to see how that did. It was better but still lacked in bass, and if i wanted to watch something its on this tiny screen.
So, what is there to do? would a DAC help or some other device? I would just wait for my desktop, but if something like this happens again i want to be prepared.

Your laptop should have an audio software suite that was pre-installed. Have you adjusted/checked any of those settings?

I went through all the settings, and unless there is something extra you have to do with windows 10, there was no difference
