Laptop Display Doesn't Always Turn On

Hi all,

Sometimes my laptop's screen doesn't always on. At first I thought it was an overheating issue (if I left the laptop off for a half an hour or so, it would work again). But now it's not even doing that. Now when it works, it works perfectly. And when it's not working, it will work on an external monitor. Any ideas on the issue?

If the laptop does work fine when it's connected to an external monitor that could only mean that the built in display is faulty or just the ribbon cable that connects it to the motherboard. Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try.
- First is to open the laptop and make sure that the ribbon cable that connects the display to the motherboard is seated properly.
- You can disconnect both ends off the motherboard and LCD then put it back in making sure it's seated properly.
- If the same problem will persist on the built in display but the display stays on the external monitor that means you'll need to replace the LCD itself.
