I have an Acer Laptop (model # 5733-6437) that I'd like to connect to my TV. It does not have an HDMI port, so I have a VGA to HDMI cable and for Audio a 3.5mm to 2RCA (red/white) cable. I thought I could just connect everything and I'd be good, but all I get on my TV is a blue screen and no audio either. I am running Windows 10 on the laptop. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Did you change the monitor settings so that your TV is set as the monitor? Also make sure to have the right input on the TV, and follow these steps.

I'm struggling to figure out how to have the TV set as my monitor with Windows 10. Is there a simple set up that I need to do? I tried the project function but none of the 4 settings make the laptop display show up on the TV. As far as connections, everything is good there with the VGA/HDMI and Headphone/RCA cables.

I tried the Detect option but nothing seemed to happen. I have Windows 10, but it was an upgrade and not come installed on this laptop. After doing a little reading, will I need to download the Miracast/WiDi deal or is there just a simple way to connect the cables and make the image and sound from my laptop show up on the TV?
