Laptop doesnt turn on, desperately need help!

Hi everyone! So after bringing my laptop to my hometown, it doesnt turn on when i press the power button. Completely nothing happens. Ive looked the internet for solutions, but couldnt find any, so im trying to seek help here... Ive had this computer for 2.5+ years, never had any problems with it ever, i was happy with my laptop whatsoever.
Even though the warranty is still valid i dont want to send it for repairs right away because im still a uni student, exams are really near and all my files and work are in my laptop and i cant risk loosing it all... If you guys could share some simple solutions to my problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Some things that could help with my problem:
1. The laptop was transported safely in a laptop case in the back of the car, as usual (no additional weight or pressure was applied to the computer).
2. The laptop is an ASUS N56VZ with i7 intel CPU, 8 gigs of ram and Nvidia GPU.
3. Ive never had any problems with the computer before in all those years, i only noticed one little change in battery life - since i upgraded from Win 7 to Win 8 this september i noticed my laptop started draining battery faster (last summer it could easily last a 2 and a half hour movie with some battery left, this october it could hardly last 1 and a half hour without any power supply) and the computer started shutting down with about 18% of battery left without any warning (and without power supply of course) which made me worried when it first occured.

I hope someone could help me with this situation as im kind of lost right now and dont know what to do, so any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. ive already tried unplugging power supply and battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds, didnt work

Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help.

- Do a hard reset first, remove the battery and AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try to boot the laptop.
- Next is to test the AC adapter and see if it's supplying enough voltage or better yet try another AC adapter that has the same voltage.
- If there are lights on the laptop indicating that it's on connect and external monitor and see if you'll get any display from it and if you do press the Windows key + P at the same time and select Display Only then press Enter.
- If that will not solve the problem do reseat the RAM, remove them all for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure that they are seated properly into each slot.
- Lastly, try and connect an external monitor and see if you'll get a display from it or not because if you do that means it's the problem to the display.
- If all these will not work you may need to contact the manufacturer for a repair if it's still under the factory warranty.

Thanks for the response, unfortunately i have tried almost every method you wrote. The computer shows no signs of anything turning on, no lights or fans or anything, even when i plug the AC adapter nothing lights up on the laptop. Although I doubt thats the fault of the AC adapter, because i clearly remember there was at least 60% of battery left before turning the laptop off and heading out, and my PC always turned on if the battery had some juice. There would be a strange coincidence if the AC adapter malfunctioned and the laptop magically didnt turn on with some battery left for the first time lol.
Although i havent tried the RAM removal method so ill try this first thing in the morning and update. Thanks.
