So, uh, a couple of weeks ago, I was stupid and fell asleep with my computer on, playing an episode of The Simpsons. On top of my 5' tall loft bed. Long story short, I woke up suddenly, and hit my arm against my computer, making it fall out of the bed.
Damage was minimal at the time, but increased as the weeks went by. No, I no longer bring it up there, but I guess it just decided to slowly fall apart.
Recently, this piece came out:
Which isn't too swell, but I dealt with it. It was kept far from any harm, and I was super careful. But now my computer says that USB port is not detected, and I believe its referring to the thing that's hanging out, as nothing else is connected to my computer.
What is this piece, and is it replaceable? There are a few wires that connect it to the computer that have come out of place with the...thing. Would it be better just to buy a new computer? And what does it control?
