Hey hey hey Chimplicker here again with a request for help for my wife. Hopefully a few of you will have experience running web businesses, and can give us some advice. Details below. Thanks!!

1_What is your budget?

$800 (can strech to about $1000)

2_What is the size of the notebook
that you are considering?

At least 14 inch

3_What screen resolution do you want?

High would be nice - graphics work to be done.

4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

A desktop replacement.

5_How much battery life do you need?

Not so much of an issue the standard 2/3 hours will be fine.

6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

Nope.

7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, surfing the web, playing music, watching movies, Etc.)

This is for someone running an internet business
Photoshop image editing
Dreamweaver
Illustrator
Fireworks
Flash
Excel,Outlook, Firefox etc. (standard things) oh and XP is fine :) Vista still too clunky

So a fast and reliable CPU, and a model that won't overheat. (DELL!!!) It needn't have a DVD drive or burner.

8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need?

at least 160BG, 200 would be nice

9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post the links to them.

open to suggestions - looking at newegg, tiger direct, geeks.com, mainstream stores

10_How long do you want to keep your laptop?

At least 3/4 years

11_If you would like to mention some other things about purchasing your ideal laptop, post them.

As thin and light as possible, but I recognize that there are budget issues...

12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

Bad experiences with Dell, don't trust Gateway. Maybe Sony, Toshiba - someone who makes well-designed and reliable laptops - don't need bells and whistles stuff like Blue-Ray, Double layer DVD write etc.

13_What country do you live in?

USA

Thanks!

Oh, and one more thing. The owner will travel abroad with the laptop - so it's gotta be rugged. Tough, fast, and reliable - not fancy - is the name of the game here.

Cheers.
