Hey helpful humans ^-^ I decided to go ahead and try to get some help from someone. Thanks!

  • 1. What is your budget?
$1,600-$1,800 is the "sweet spot". If it is something that is amazing I will go up to $2,150
    2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
I am assuming we are talking about screen size. 17.3" is my main choice, but anything over 14" will suffice. Weight does not matter. A laptop on the thinner side is preferred.
    3. What screen resolution do you want?
    1920x1080, 2560x1440, or 3840x2160
    4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
    Either? Sorry.
    5. How much battery life do you need?
I need it to last on battery life for 9-ish hours. If I can replace the battery easily then I have no problem carrying some extra batteries around.
    6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Yes, Low is fine on something like Dota 2. High would be better obviously but with graphics processing units eating power I'd be fine with a weaker GPU that can handle CAD.
    7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
    CAD, Photo and Video editing.
    8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
    I have a 1TB 850 Pro so as-long as it has a 2.5" bay we're good. 1TB is enough.
    9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
    http://www.lenovo.com/us/en/ , http://www.newegg.com/ , http://www.amazon.com/ ,
    10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
    2-3 years.
    11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
I can always get a USB one, So it isn't necessary that it even contains one. But having one already installed is great.
    12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I don't like Acer? I had one before and everyone shunned me :(
    13. What country do you live in?
    United States of America (+1)
    14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
    USB 3.0 is a must.
I love me some back-lit keyboards so that would be great.
    IPS isn't necessary but it's a great "Plus 1".
Matte display is also one of my Plus 1 things.
HDMI out is a must. Micro or Mini HDMI is fine also.

Sorry is this is the wrong place to post this or if I missed anything
Thanks!

that one is also an MSI but its a 17 inch laptop and it comes stock with an ssd and 1tb storage drive and 12gb of ram it also has a steel series backlit keyboard and can be upgraded to 32gb of ram instead of only 16 it also comes with a 128gb SSD and a 1tb storage drive and like the last one i posted it also has a newer gtx 970m graphics cards

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152666

this one is also a MSI laptop and its just like the one i talked about above the GT72 except this model is an older one whereas the GT72 is a new updated model but this model just like the previous one can be upgraded to 32gb of ram and you can add a second harddrive as well or an SSD the biggest difference between this model and the one above other than price are that this model has 8gb of ram and no SSD whereas the model i talked about above the GT72 has 12gb of ram and a 128gb SSD and 1tb drive already installed.

i would highly recommend any of these laptops for gaming and multimedia hope this helps feel free to ask me any questions you may have good luck on your search
