Laptop For School

I am just going into college and I am looking for a new laptop. My current one is a huge, bulky laptop meant for gaming by ASUS and over the years I realize that I have never really done intense gaming that I wanted. I only really ever play the following games (Civ 5, Golf with your Friends, Counterstrike, Gary's Mod, and Dota 2). I would much rather have a laptop that can boot-up very quickly (not like five minutes), can be portible/lightweight, generally look nice and have lots of storage space. I will only use this for playing the games listed above, for taking notes/ writing lots of essays, and programming. I bought my current laptop is around $1200 so that's my budget. Thanks!
